Hi! I'm Rachael. I'm a designer who thrives in online mediums: web, graphics, documents, and slides just to name a few. I've been creating web layouts for fun since I was 16, and in my career, I've developed a love for digital marketing, graphic design, documentation, content creation, and branding.

My background transcends just design; I graduated from Oakland University with a B.S. in Computer Science and Informatics in 2018, and I have a passion for frontend code and data architecture. I'm outspoken, organized, communicative, and excellent at self-teaching.

Career Experience

Web Media Production Specialist SmartBear (Remote) — October 2023 to Present

Manages the Marketing Help Desk, which accepts requests from other teams at SmartBear (both inside and outside of the Marketing department) to make changes to the websites of SmartBear and its subsidiaries. Handles all requests for editing webpages and publishing blogs, and works with the requestor to achieve desired result. Creates graphics for these requests where applicable.

Content Marketing Specialist Stoplight (Remote) — May 2021 to October 2023

Responsible for designing all marketing graphics, corporate Google Slides, whitepapers, case studies, infographics, and other branding-related collateral. Led the project efforts to research, design, and implement a new marketing website (stoplight.io) in 2023 using Webflow while maintaining brand standards, utilizing proper mobile responsive design, and adhering to accessibility best practices. Designed and implemented a new blog design in 2023 using HubL (HubSpot code), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Created a 43-page eBook in 2022 using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator to capture key highlights of the company's podcast. Works cross-departmentally within the entire company to create visual assets for other teams. Organizes and manages the company's Google Drive file system and utilizes Notion for asset request management, website change requests, brand guidelines, and other company-wide information. Creates all public-facing company images, including profile banners, social share images, and email images.

Digital Marketing Specialist Waltonen (Troy, MI) — July 2019 to January 2021

Completed internal marketing design work for Waltonen and its subsidiary, Geometric Solutions. Completed agency design work for Waltonen's subsidiary, Riegner. Designed, developed, and managed all websites belonging to Waltonen, as well as Riegner's client websites. Created social share imagery, emails, posters, and other design collateral. Utilized MailChimp, Salesforce, and Pardot for CRM and email automation. Optimized all websites for SEO, accessibility, and design best practices. Strategized social media and other marketing campaigns.

Website Designer PITSS (Troy, MI) — November 2015 to July 2019

Redesigned the PITSS website and completed a total brand overhaul. Obtained and organized all leads from the company website, social media, and emails using Zoho. Created, edited, and designed all content for the PITSS website. Used SEO best practices and Google PageSpeed to improve site health.

Web and Graphic Designer Hobby/Volunteer Work — 2013 to Present

Designs, codes, and implements websites for personal clients, such as friends and family, using Wordpress.com, Wordpress.org, Carrd.co, and Squarespace. Creates logos and other graphics used on client websites. Maintains and manages previous client projects to ensure stable, effective website performance. Designs and copy-edited resumes and other documents for friends and family.

Tumblr Theme Creator Hobby/Volunteer Work — 2010 to Present

Creates free-to-use Tumblr themes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery, and Tumblr code variables. Uses effective design principles across all platforms and device sizes. Maintains and manages all themes to ensure compatibility with new Tumblr features and design standards. Responds to feedback and assists users with all questions, bug fixes, and requests. Amassed over 100,000 installations since 2010. Showcased in Tumblr's Theme Garden as a featured creator.
